The FIR states that Khan’s group had earlier submitted a memorandum to Ganeshpeth Police Station, seeking legal action against the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) workers. However, it later turned violent.

In many videos of March 17, the rioters allegedly shouted slogans in support of the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb and call it ‘Alamgir Hazrat’. Khan allegedly provoked people, instigating violence and spreading rumors of insulting a sacred book.
