A 22 -year -old student of Balasore, Odisha, set herself on fire, because it was allegedly sexually assaulted by her teacher. In this case, it was now a big disclosure that 11 days before the life, the student wrote a letter to the college’s internal committee and accused a senior faculty member of sexual harassment and warned that she would commit suicide if no action was taken. This morning, BED Second Year student died in AIIMS Bhubaneswar at Fakir Mohan (Autonomas) College, Balasore.

She was burnt up to 95 percent after setting himself on fire by putting petrol outside the principal’s office. Sameer Kumar Sahu, head of the education department, who was accused of sexual harassment by the victim, and the college principal Dilip Ghosh has been arrested.

According to NDTV, in a letter written on July 1 to the Internal Complaint Committee of the college, the victim demanded that a disciplinary committee be formed to investigate the allegations against Sameer Kumar Sahu and take necessary action.

He wrote in his letter, “HOD of B.Ed. Department, Sameer Kumar Sahu, has been mentally disturbing for the last few months. He always threatens me that he will fail me. He has also threatened to share my personal matters with my family. Even the greater thing is that HODs are demanding frequent sexual relations. In future, if the college administration does not take any action, I will commit suicide and HOD and college administration will be responsible for it. “

Four days after this warning, the victim set herself on fire. He was first admitted to Balasore District Hospital and then referred to AIIMS, Bhubaneswar.

The Burn Center Department of AIIMS said in a statement, “The patient was saved by applying IV fluid, iv antibiotics, tubes and placed on mechanical ventilation. Despite all the attempts to save the kidney replacement therapy in Burn ICU, he could not be saved and declared him dead on 14 July at 11:46 pm.”

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Manjhi has expressed grief over the death of the student and said that all the culprits will be punished severely under the law.
