Cinema Ka Flashback: It is said that there is no voice in the sticks of God, but when he studies, a person remembers seven books. Something similar happened with Bhajan singer Narendra Chanchal. He gave songs in Riti Kapoor’s film ‘Bobby’, which became super hit. From here he got both wealth and fame. But the singer’s ego was filled. Narendra Chanchal turned his back on with whom he got this opportunity due to the songs of God. Then something happened to him, causing him to crumble.
Narendra used to sing bhajans along with fickle films. His name has always been the top in the list of bhajan singers. In Bobby, he gave his voice to the song ‘Mandal Masjid Breako’, which became quite popular. With this song Narendra became a superstar of the music industry overnight. He then gave voice to songs in many films. But he could not digest this popularity. Seeing his career growing in films, he refused to sing Devi songs.
Narendra Chanchal revealed this story in an interview. He had told that at one time he had completely decided to sing only film songs. He sang many songs like ‘Rest of Kuch Kuch Bacha To Daar Kara Gaya’ and ‘Main Anam Ho Gaya’. After this, he started getting proud of success. But God soon showed him a mirror and brought him from the sky.
Narendra Chanchal told that once he went to Agra to attend a music night. He had already gone to Agra Bhajan-Kirtan many times. When he arrived at the program in Agra, a man requested him to sing bhajan. But he refused to sing bhajan by making an excuse to deteriorate health. He left from there. His voice suddenly went away the same night.
Narendra Chanchal soon realized that Mata Rani had punished. He could not remove a word from the mouth for several months. When he recovered, he decided that he will now sing only the hymns of the mother. He never hummed the film songs again, nor lured it. Singers were also singing devotional songs in films too. Songs like ‘Tune Me Mera Bulaye Shera Wallia’ and ‘Chalo Bulawa Aya’ are still inhabited by people.
