The language dispute in Maharashtra is not taking the name of stopping. The latest case is of a student, who was allegedly beaten up outside the college in Navi Mumbai.
It is being told that this student was a member of a WhatsApp group of the college. According to the NDTV report, when some members were talking in Hindi on the group, he allegedly responded to Marathi and said, “Talk in Marathi, otherwise Raj Thackeray will come.” He was angry with people commenting in Hindi. This comment was made in the context of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), whose party is at the center of controversy over Marathi language. After this, angry people started messaging the group.
The dispute started after the student’s comment. The next day further increased when some people outside their college beat him at around 10.30 am, including Faizan Naik. It is being told that Faizan hit a 20 -year -old boy with a hockey stick on his head, causing serious injuries to him. The police have officially registered a case and started investigating the incident.
Vashi Assistant Commissioner of Police Adinath Budhwant said that an FIR has been registered at the Vashi police station in this dispute between two groups. The dispute is due to the debate between two people over the comment on the group.
He further informed that in the dispute, the complainant has also been informed about beating the sticks. He said that the investigation of the incident has started and the accused will be arrested soon.
Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) spokesperson Gajanan Kale and other MNS workers also met police officers and asked them to take strict action in the case.
The controversy is deepening with MNS workers being involved in most of the cases for the promotion of Marathi language in Maharashtra. Incidents of oral and physical attacks, sabotage and public threats have come to light from various parts of the state.
