Pakistan Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, with his earlier stance, supported the US decision to declare the resistance front (TRF) as a terrorist organization. However, he separated this organization from Lashkar-e-Taiba from its alleged link. Speaking at a program in Washington, he said that Dar was not an objection to the American ” TRF will welcome any evidence that proves to be involved in terrorist activities. However, he refused to add TRF to Lashkar-e-Taiba.
Dar told reporters, “Banning TRF is a sovereign decision of America. We have no objection to it. And if they have any evidence that they are involved in it, we welcome it.”
It is worth noting that this change in the attitude of Islamabad is also important because only a few months ago, Dar had credited Pakistan’s diplomatic move to keep the TRF out of the statement of the United Nations Security Council condemning the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22. 26 people lost their lives in Pahalgam terror attack.
At that time, Dar claimed that there was not enough evidence and he also claimed in Parliament that despite the pressure of many countries, “Pakistan was successful in removing the name of TRF”.
India declared TRF a terrorist organization in January 2023 under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. The group, which came out for the first time in 2019, has claimed responsibility for several attacks in Jammu and Kashmir in the last few years, including target killings and grenade attacks.
According to Indian security agencies, TRF works as his representative to hide Lashkar-e-Taiba in regional terrorism.
It is also worth noting here that this soft trend of Dar coincides with Pakistan’s efforts to renew its anti-anti-terrorism erection. During his eight -day visit to the US, Dar presided over several meetings of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) at Pakistan’s Rotating Presidency and interacted with top US officials including US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
In a video released by ANI, Dar and Rubio were seen shaking hands in the State Department. Pakistani officials later claimed that the US accepted the “sacrifices of Pakistan in the war against terrorism”.
