Why not sell mangoes
In an interview to the startup Pedia, the farmer Joseph Lobo of Shankarpura village told why he does not sell the mangoes. Joseph Lobo said, “We come empty handed on this earth and go empty handed. Just our name remains behind us. God has given us the boon of nature and in return he wants us to share generously with others. I did not make the mangoes a medium of business, but I wanted my friend and family to taste this expensive and nutrition.”
These mangoes are sold in millions, but Josephs neither sell nor do any business. They grow these special mangoes only for their family and also give happily to the people around them for free.
Joseph Lobo comes from farmer family
Joseph Lobo was from a farmer family, but he did not have much land. In such a situation, he decided to start farming on his roof in 2010. Initially, he grown jasmine plants, potatoes and some green vegetables. In 2015, he started farming in a hydroponic manner, in which plants are grown in nutritious water instead of soil. Along with this, he also started using grow bags for fruits and vegetables, which made it possible to do better farming in less space.
Sell plant for so many thousands
Joseph Lobo adopted biological and modern methods in farming. They make manure from household items and protect them from insects from neem oil. He later started growing fruits such as jasmine, chiku and miyamak mangoes with hydroponic technology. Joseph Lobo started hydroponic and roof farming at Rs 1.60 lakh. Now they teach its cultivation and sell the mango mango plants for Rs 3,000.
