Since 26 June, at least 266 people have died due to continuous torrential rains and severe floods in Pakistan, out of which 126 are children. Apart from this, 628 people have been injured. Due to rain and floods, there has been huge havoc in the whole of Pakistan, many houses have collapsed and the properties have suffered heavy damage. The maximum number of deaths have occurred in Punjab province, where 144 people were killed while 63 were killed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 25 in Sindh, 16 in Baluchistan, 10 in Pakistan -occupied Kashmir and eight in Islamabad. Due to continuous rains and floods, relief and rescue operations are facing difficulties, due to which the situation has become even more serious.

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said on Friday that 14 people have died and 17 others have been injured in rain -related incidents in the last 24 hours. The total dead include 94 men, 46 females and 126 children.

The highest number of 144 people died in Punjab province. This was followed by 63 people in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 25 in Sindh, 16 in Balochistan, 10 in Pakistan -occupied Kashmir and eight in Islamabad.

Heavy rains and sudden floods have caused widespread damage to property and infrastructure. In the last 24 hours, 246 houses have been damaged and 38 animals have died. More than 1,250 houses have been damaged and 366 animals have been killed since the onset of monsoon.

In Punjab, Governor Sardar Salim Haider visited flood affected areas in Pindi furnaces and informed about widespread destruction.

Due to release of water from the Turbella dam, due to the rise of the Indus River, there has been a serious condition of flooding in the stuck. In Chiniot, the Chenab river is reported to have flooded at a lower level.

Many houses were damaged due to landslides in Khanpur tehsil of Haripur, while a road in Hali Bagh Kalali was blocked for two days due to large landslides, delaying relief operations.

Rain continued in Swat and surrounding areas, while eight people died and more than 10 people went missing due to sudden floods in Gilgit-Baltistan region of Pakistan occupied by Pakistan. There is news of a big landslide near Tatta water.

NDMA said that he is keeping a close watch on the situation and coordinating in rescue and relief operations with the provincial authorities.
