    RC Bhargava said that tariffs as diplomatic weapons (Tariff) Using the use of unexpected challenge has arisen. Our duty as Indian is to support the government, maintain their self -respect and face this pressure together.” On August 26, Trump announced an additional 25 per cent tariff on India.

    Demand for small cars will increase due to decrease in GST

    The head of Maruti emphasized tax relief measures to face financial pressure from Trump’s tariff. He requested the GST Council to reduce GST from 28 per cent to 18 per cent on small cars. The GST Council meeting is scheduled to be held on 3 and 4 September. He said that due to decrease in GST, the demand for small cars will increase. He said, “We hope that the announcement of GST reduction on the occasion of Independence Day will reduce tax on small cars. This will bring recovery in the car industry. Industrial activity will increase and create new jobs.”

    Equal tax is necessary on electric and hybrid cars

    He said that the plan to expand Maruti will depend on the decision of the GST Council and its impact on domestic demand. Sale of small cars has been decreasing for the last few years. The auto market has been getting support from SUV sales for some time. In the first quarter of financial year 2025-26, sales of passengers cars fell by 1.6 per cent. He also demanded a similar rule for electric and hybrid cars in terms of tax. Currently, EV is charged 5 % tax, while the hybrid car is taxed at 28 percent.
