World Tourism Day is celebrated every year on 27 September. Abdullah said that when the whole world is celebrating the importance of tourism, it is an opportunity for self-consciousness and new commitment for the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He said, “Tourism here is not just economic activity, but the basis of livelihood of thousands of people and an important part of our social and cultural life.”
