A large quantity of explosives has been recovered from Tonk in Rajasthan. 150 kg of ammonium nitrate has been found in a car. The action has been taken by the District Special Team (DST) of Tonk. Police say they are investigating all aspects of the case. The police department has been alerted after such a large amount of ammonium nitrate was found on New Year’s Eve.
Notably, a car bomb exploded near Delhi’s Red Fort in November, killing 13 people and injuring many others. Police seized a large quantity of ammonium nitrate from the house of one of the blast accused.
Explosive material was seized from the car
Tonk Deputy SP Mrityunjay Mishra said that today the team led by DST in-charge Om Prakash has taken a major action. The DST received information about a Maruti Ciaz car coming from Bundi towards Tonk and intercepted it in the borough police station area. Explosive materials were seized from the car.
He said that the explosive was 150 kg of ammonium nitrate which was hidden in sacks of urea. Apart from this, the police have also seized 200 cartridges and 1,100 meters long wire. Police have arrested Surendra (48), son of Bundi resident Bhanwarlal and Surendra Mochi (35), son of Bundi resident Dhuli Lal.

Police are investigating further
The Deputy SP said that ammonium nitrate was used to detonate the blast and the police investigation was focused on why and where these people were carrying the explosive material. Police are investigating whether it was being transported for use in mining.
