Bandar Apna Dost YouTube : AI content is making noise everywhere. Meanwhile, a new global study has revealed that the most watched channel for AI-generated content on YouTube is in India. By making AI videos, the channel is earning about $4.25 million (roughly Rs. 38 crore) every year.
Analyzed 15,000 of the world’s most popular YouTube channels
The report, published by video-editing platform Kapwing, analyzed the world’s 15,000 most popular YouTube channels. It identified hundreds of channels that are full of AI-generated, low-quality ‘AI slop’ content. These videos are created with the help of AI with very little human intervention. Often designed to get more views rather than tell a meaningful story.
According to this report, around 278 channels have purely ‘AI slope’ content. All these channels have received more than 63 billion views and 221 million subscribers, representing a large and new front in the world of online content creation.
More than 2.76 million subscribers of Bandar Apna Dost channel
The most watched ‘AI slope’ channel identified in the study is Bandar Apna Dost. The channel features animated shorts featuring a port with humanoid qualities and a character with a powerful Hulk-like body in comic and awkward situations. The channel has so far received over 2.07 billion views and over 2.76 million subscribers. Its rapid growth shows how even low-cost AI content can reach a large audience.
Rohini Lakshan, a researcher on technology and digital rights, told The Guardian that the biggest reason for Bandar Apna Dost’s popularity was its absurd presentation, over-hyped characters and lack of a clear story. This makes it easier for new viewers to see and understand.
The Kapwing analysis also found that the share of AI-generated videos in content shown to users on YouTube has grown significantly. More than 20 percent of the content suggested to new users falls under the category of ‘AI slope’, which raises questions about the quality of content on the platform.
Researchers and industry experts expressed concern
Researchers and industry experts have expressed concern that this type of large-scale content could overtake more thoughtful and painstakingly created creator-driven videos. This is because algorithmic recommendation systems prioritize watch time and engagement over originality.
Overall, the success of channels like Bandar Apna Dost shows that AI content has the potential to attract large audiences globally and generate huge revenues.
