Aravalli Hills Controversy : The Union Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change presented a new definition of 100 meters in the Supreme Court on October 14. A day later, the Supreme Court’s Central Empowered Committee (CEC) wrote to the court’s amicus curiae stressing the need to protect and conserve the hill ecology by following the 3 degree slope standard set by the Forest Survey of India.
Not only that, three weeks after the incident, on 7 November 2025, the CEC confirmed its position in a way and recommended to the court that the proposal placed before the court for renewal or extension of 164 mining leases in Rajasthan should not be allowed or proceeded with until the approval of the Supreme Court.
