Arvind Srinivas, speaking in a podcast, said that the biggest threat to the data center is if intelligence can be packaged locally into a chip and run directly on the device. If this happens, there will be no need to depend on a centralized data center for all queries.
Currently chatbots like ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity use huge servers to answer your questions, which consume a lot of electricity and need millions of liters of water to keep them cool.

According to Srinivas, On-device AI has two main advantages:

- Privacy and costs: Data will not leave your device, increasing privacy and reducing maintenance and electricity costs for companies.

Currently AI models are so large that it is difficult to run them on a normal phone. But, with the way companies like Apple and Qualcomm are working on new chip technology, this will be possible in the future.
Additionally, Srinivasa also talked about hallucinations in AI. He admitted that currently AI sometimes makes mistakes, but in the next 5 years this problem will be completely solved.
