Now the Excise Department has also become active regarding the upcoming elections and has started taking action against illegal liquor. In view of the panchayat and urban body elections in Sunar district under the instructions of Collector Chandramouli Shukla, the Excise Department is taking action on the transportation, sale and collection of illicit liquor. The department took action in Siyapura, Pratap Nagar and Bihariganj.
Intensive search was conducted during the operation. In which 08 cases were registered under the Madhya Pradesh Excise Act and taken into consideration, in the action, one box of country liquor plane, 80 liters of hand furnace liquor and 2500 kg of Mahua Lahan were recovered. Lahan was duly destroyed by taking samples on the spot. The market value of the material recovered in the action is about Rs 1 lakh 43 thousand 850.
