Governor Ramesh Bais has asked tough questions to the Director General of Police, Additional Director General of Police (Operations), Ranchi Deputy Commissioner and Senior Superintendent of Police on Monday regarding the violence in the capital. All the officers were summoned to Raj Bhavan on Monday. l Governor has asked him point-wise what was the information regarding the procession of the protesters. And what were the inputs given by the special branch. Why didn’t the authorities take preventive action?

The Governor took detailed information from those officials about the incidents in Ranchi on June 10 and onwards under nine different points. He asked why the authorities had not used water cannons, rubber bullets and tear gas to control the protesters. Was there no provision for these things?

How many FIRs and arrests were made

In this meeting held at Raj Bhavan, the Governor asked how many security personnel and magistrates were present there during the procession, as well as why the police officers and personnel were not wearing helmets and protective items. How many arrests have been made so far and how many FIRs have been registered. In the meeting, the Director General of Police told that according to the IB, about 150 people had received information about rioting.

Get the details of the protesters and make the names and addresses public

He said that after getting the details of all the protesters and those arrested, their names/addresses should be made public and also put up hoardings of them by displaying their photographs at prominent places in the city so that the public can also identify them and help the police. Whereas those who are spreading rumors about these incidents through social media, have you identified them and taken any action against them? All such people need to be identified and punished.

Information on these points also sought from DGP soon

Along with this, the Governor told the DGP that the accused youth of the rapist in Gumla were burnt alive by the mob, the murder of a jeweler named Rajesh Kumar Pal in the capital, the shooting of 3 youths in Adityapur and Manpreet entering the house after giving testimony in Jamshedpur. Instructions have been given to make available the information about the shot dead at the earliest.
