Currently, each of the two countries has deployed around 50,000 to 60,000 troops in the sensitive area along the LAC.

Jaishankar and Wang Yi met on 7 July

It is noteworthy that on July 7, Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar and his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi discussed the situation in eastern Ladakh in Bali. In an hour-long meeting on the sidelines of the G20 foreign ministers’ meeting, Jaishankar conveyed to Wang the need to resolve all outstanding issues in eastern Ladakh at the earliest.

In a statement after the meeting, the Ministry of External Affairs said, “The Foreign Minister, while referring to the withdrawal of troops from some areas of the standoff, emphasized that this momentum should be maintained for complete withdrawal from all remaining areas. “Jaishankar also reiterated the importance of full compliance with bilateral agreements and protocols and the understanding reached between the two ministers during earlier talks.
