Mohali Police has caught a gang claiming to have solved the case of snatching worth Rs 35 lakh. Out of the amount of snatching, Rs 17,40,000 has been recovered from the arrested accused. The police have started the action by registering the case.

According to SSP Vivek Sheel Soni, on July 1, Sanjeev Kumar of Khanna had lodged a case at Kurali police station. It was said in the complaint that on June 6, 2022, along with his employees Gurdeep Singh and Mohan Singh, snatching of Rs 35 lakh took place in Kurali town in broad daylight. The accused had carried out the crime by posing as GST workers.

The police checked the CCTV cameras in the case. Taking forward the investigation of the registered case, the police arrested 4 members of the gang. These include Gurdeep Singh alias Jassi, Barinder Singh, Charanjit Singh and Harjit Singh. Harjeet Singh is a policeman and was in police uniform during the incident.

9 lakh rupees for snatching from Gurdeep, a resident of Sector 26A of Mandi Gobindgarh in district Fatehgarh Sahib, Rs 5 lakh from Harjit Singh of Lakhanpur village of Fatehgarh Sahib, Rs 1.50 thousand from Barinder Singh, a resident of Sector 26A of Mandi Gobindgarh and Mandi Gobindgarh. 1.90 thousand rupees of snatching have been recovered from Charanjit Singh, a resident of Royal City.

Case already registered

Among the accused, a case has also been registered against Barinder Singh in district Fatehgarh Sahib under sections of theft, trespassing, wrongful confinement on June 1, 2018. Police will take their remand and inquire about more information and incident.
