TB disease is proving to be more deadly than corona in Gujarat in the last five months. In the five months from January to May, 2675 deaths have occurred due to TB in Gujarat. On the other hand, 825 people have lost their lives due to Corona in this period of five months. Apart from this, more than 68 thousand people have become victims of TB in five months. In the last two years, people have become more frightened by the corona epidemic. But the disease of TB has proved to be more deadly and deadly than Corona.
By 2022, more than 6.47 lakh people have contracted TB in Gujarat
From January to May, 68718 people have fallen victim to TB from Gujarat. The mortality rate from TB in this condition is more than four percent. Apart from this, it has been revealed that an average of more than 13 thousand people are suffering from TB per month in Gujarat. Among the states which have the highest number of deaths due to TB in five months, Uttar Pradesh is at the top with 6896, Maharashtra is second with 2845, while Gujarat is third. TB cases are also increasing alarmingly in Gujarat. From the year 2018 to May 2022, a total of more than 6.47 lakh people have contracted TB from Gujarat.
TB patients are given free medicine
According to the sources of Civil Hospital of Ahmedabad, the increase in TB patients is alarming. But various measures are being taken by the government for TB patients. In which different strategies have been made according to the states and districts where TB cases are high. TB patients are given free medicine. Special campaigns are being conducted to detect active TB cases where the co-morbid population is high. Special arrangements have been made so that no one has to travel far for TB screening or treatment. Apart from this, measures including special medicine are taken so that the family members of the TB sufferer do not get infected.
The death rate from TB was 3.9 percent in 2020
According to the details presented by the government in the Lok Sabha, under the TB elimination program, 18.05 lakh people got TB in 2020 and 21.35 lakh in 2021. Steps being taken to detect active cases, service provision from Ayushman Bharat Health has reported an increase in cases. In the year 2020, 89823 died from TB, in the year 2021, 76002 died from TB. Thus, the death rate from TB was 3.9 percent in 2020 and it has increased to 4.3 percent in 2021.
