  • Due to lack of staff in the zonal office, stamp duty payment of post-1982 properties was not done on time, but now it can be paid on time.

City Co. People are often pushed to pay stamp duty on post-1982 properties of operative societies in share certificates and allotment letters. A new system has been devised so that the applicants do not have to be pushed. Under which a message is sent to the applicant’s mobile to pay the amount of stamp duty. A physical notice is also sent along with it. The message and notice must include the date and time of allocation.

Around one thousand applications were received in July for payment of stamp duty. Officials of the office said that apart from 1982, in the last 11 months, more cases of Section-33 mortgage, non-substitution, right release, power of attorney and less stamp duty cases also come. So the work load is more. With the message system, the applicants will get work in one push.

On the other hand, after the implementation of this circular, even if a buyer of an old property or a bank loan is to be taken on the property, the valuation procedure under the post-1982 rules has to be carried out first. Due to which the people have got additional financial burden. There is a huge public outcry against the government’s policy of levying stamp duty on post-1982 documents. A proposal has also been made in the government not to charge stamp duty on old properties.

Among the city’s 14 zonal offices, Paldi, Memnagar, Wadge, Naroda, Odhav, Vejalpur and Narol zones have the highest number of documents since 1982. Applications come to the Deputy Collector Stamp Duty Department from Sanand, Dholka, Dhandhuka, Viramgam, Detroj, Mandal, Bawla and Dholera in the district. Which has to be disposed within 7 days.
