Both sitting MLAs, who have won more than 6 terms on both these seats and have reached the age of 70, have revealed their desire to contest the assembly elections for the last time and have increased public outreach in their constituencies.
Ready to contest elections even if BJP doesn’t give ticket
A sitting BJP MLA from one of the five seats in Vadodara city who has crossed the age of 70 and has been elected for 6-7 terms. But, they still want to contest the last elections of the next Assembly. It is being discussed that even if they are not given a ticket by the BJP, they are ready to contest the elections. As he travels around his constituencies, when his supporters ask him for election, he simply replies, ‘I am going to contest’ but does not give any answer as to from which party he is going to contest.
MLA increased public contact
It is also reported that this MLA, who has crossed 70, has also increased public contact in his constituency and recently raised a bio against the administrators of his party’s corporation on the issue of water. Apart from this, he also frequently uploaded bio about the unresolved issues of his constituency. The people of the constituency are also telling this MLA that whether the party gives ticket or not, you should be ready to contest the election. We are with you. No candidate will run in this constituency without you. BJP also has no option for this seat except MLA who has crossed 70. However, in the current situation, if any candidate is fielded by the BJP, there is not even two votes in winning, then if this MLA is not given a ticket by the BJP and he contests the seat, this seat can become a prestige battle for the BJP and the candidate.
Dabangg leader wants to contest last election
Talking about the seat of the district which includes educational institutions in Vadodara district, there is a discussion going on in the BJP to field a woman candidate on this seat. But, this MLA, who is known as a Dambag leader, wants to contest the last election. He is also a candidate who has been winning for 5 terms. However, if he is not repeated by the BJP this time and if he contests on a ticket from an independent or any other party, winning in his constituency is like chewing iron. Because, people are also angry against the current MLA in this constituency. In the last election, he won only because he was a BJP candidate. Otherwise it is difficult for them to contest elections on their strength.
Congress has no strong candidate
On the other hand, preparations are being made for the upcoming assembly elections by an independent candidate who lost to the BJP in the last election by general votes on this rural seat. While Congress does not have any strong candidate for this seat, it has been learned that BJP is preparing to field a woman in the election field to quench the resentment against the sitting MLA on this seat.
