Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal wrote to PM Modi seeking permission to travel to Singapore

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking approval from the Center for his visit to Singapore for the “World Cities Summit”. It may be mentioned that, earlier in June, CM Kejriwal had accepted the invitation of the High Commissioner of Singapore for the summit starting from July 31. However, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo is yet to get permission to travel.
In a letter written to PM Modi, Kejriwal said that it is against the interest of the country to stop the Chief Minister from coming to such an important platform.
Delhi CM Kejriwal said in his letter, “Singapore government has requested me to participate in the August 1 programme. Please grant permission as soon as possible so that I can elevate the name of the country with this journey.”

It may be mentioned that MPs, MLAs and Chief Ministers also have to seek approval from the central government ministry for official foreign visits. In case of Delhi and Puducherry, the file for approval is sent through the Lieutenant Governor’s office. The Delhi government has time and again accused the LG office of not clearing many files sent by them.
