In Maharashtra, 10 newly appointed members of the Legislative Council took oath

Mumbai: All the 10 newly elected members, including Maharashtra Legislative Council Speaker Ramraj Naik Nimbalkar, were sworn in here on Friday. The members were administered the oath of office by Neelam Gore, Deputy Speaker of the Upper House, at the Vidhan Bhavan complex in South Mumbai. He was elected to the council in a biennial poll on June 30, in which the legislators voted. Ahir and Amasha Padvi (Shiv Sena) and Bhai Jagtap (Congress). In the upper house of the 6-member assembly, the BJP has 8 seats, the Shiv Sena 12, the Congress 10, the NCP 10, the Lok Bharti 1, the PWD 1, the RSP 1, the Independent 3 and 12 seats. (PTI)
