In a statement, the Assam National Health Mission said that one person died in Karimganj and two in Shivsagar due to Japanese fever. A total of 16 people have lost their lives due to the disease in Assam. A total of 121 cases of Japanese fever have been reported in the state from July 1 to Wednesday.
In India, the disease was first observed in Tamil Nadu in 1955, today the disease is a problem for the entire country.
According to the WHO, about three billion people in Southeast Asia and the Western Pacific are affected by Japanese fever. Apart from this, more than 68 thousand cases of Japanese fever are reported worldwide every year, of which about 13-20 thousand cases can be fatal. According to government data, about 134 people died of Japanese fever in Assam in 2013, 165 in 2014 and 135 in 2015. At the same time, a total of 180 people died here due to Japanese fever in 2016 and 2017.
