Make sure that cows are not slaughtered on the day of Bakri Eid, letter written by the Speaker to the DGP

Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Speaker Rahul Narvekar has written a letter to state DGP (Director General of Police) Rajneesh Seth directing him to ensure that cows are not slaughtered on the day of Bakri Eid on July 10. The Vishwa Hindu Parishad had demanded Narvekar to stop cow slaughter on the day of Bakri Eid in Maharashtra.

In a letter to the Maharashtra DGP, Speaker Rahul Narvekar said there was a complete ban on cow slaughter in Maharashtra and a large number of cows were likely to be slaughtered on the day of Bakri Eid. That is why necessary steps should be taken to stop cow slaughter on the day of Bakri Eid.

Just a few days ago, police in the Mumbai suburb of Deonar seized more than 2,500 kg of beef and arrested at least ten people. Deonar police had secretly instructed an animal welfare organization to bring beef to Mumbai. Police then set a trap on the Ghatkopar-Mankhurd link road and seized beef from three vehicles.
