Dalai Lama’s 87th birthday: PM Modi calls and congratulates, Richard Gere and Himachal CM join celebrations
Today is the 14th birthday of the Dalai Lama. On this occasion, many dignitaries from home and abroad, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, greeted him.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday phoned the holy 14th Dalai Lama on his birthday and wished the spiritual leader of Tibet. The Dalai Lama, born July 6, 1935, turned 87 on Wednesday. In a tweet, the Prime Minister wrote: “Earlier in the day, I wished the Holy Dalai Lama a happy birthday over the phone. We pray for their longevity and good health. ”

The Dalai Lama’s 87th birthday was celebrated at the main Buddhist temple Suglagkhang in Dharamsala city of Himachal Pradesh, where Chief Minister Jairam Thakur was virtually joined as the chief guest. Hundreds of Tibetans, including monks, nuns, schoolchildren and foreign supporters, attended the Dalai Lama’s birthday celebrations. Hollywood actor Richard Gere also attended the celebration.
