PUNE: A police constable died after his car hit a tree in Bhosari along the Pune-Nashik highway around midnight intervening Friday and Saturday.
The constable, Vijay Akhadewas heading towards Chakan from Nashik Phata when the accident occurred. He was posted at the Chinchwad police station, the Bhosari police said. The MIDC Bhosari police have registered a case of accidental death as of now. Further investigations are on.
Deputy commissioner of police Manchak Ipper of the Pimpri Chinchwad police said, “Akhade (42), a resident of Chakan, was on duty at the Chinchwad police station. The accident occurred when he was going home in his personal car.”
He said, “We have recovered the CCTV footage of the car just before it met with the accident. It shows the car was travelling at a high speed. It directly hit the tree. We presumed that he lost control over the vehicle before it hit the tree near the road. We are checking if there is an involvement of any other vehicle.” Akhade suffered serious injuries. Some passersby called up the police control room and moved him to a hospital, where he was declared dead.
