Due to which inflation in the country is at a new height. On Saturday, Sri Lankans took to the streets in protest of the President, resulting in a stampede on the streets of Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka. Protesters also besieged the President’s Secretariat, demanding his resignation. At the same time, protesters and security forces were also seen clashing in several places. Sri Lanka, which is facing an economic crisis, witnessed heavy protests on Saturday. A large number of people were seen on the roads on Saturday. Meanwhile, a rush of people was seen on the streets of Colombo. All the protesters were seen marching towards the Presidential Secretariat. After which a demonstration was seen gathering outside the Presidential Secretariat.

Failed attempts by security forces to stop the protesters also left tear gas shells
Security teams also appeared on the front line on Saturday afternoon to stop people taking to the streets of Colombo to reach the Presidential Secretariat following the resignation of President Rajapaksa. Under which security teams made every effort to stop the protesters. Tear gas shells were also fired by security forces during the episode. Which the protesters appeared to avoid.

The children climbed the statue of Kannanagara, the people occupied the Presidential Secretariat
The Presidential Secretariat was occupied by protesters until Saturday. Crowds of people were seen on the steps of the President’s Secretariat and outside, on the other hand, children were seen climbing on the statue of CWW Kannagara, the pioneer of free education established by the President in 2018.
