Surat: State Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi has made an important announcement for Surat’s diamond industry. State Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi was present at the inauguration of the Exhibition of Natural and Labgrown Loose Diamonds organized by Surat Diamond Association. The Home Minister said that the SIT will be constituted to stop frauds involving diamond industry traders and to take swift action against the accused. Union Minister Purushottam Rupala, Union Minister of State for Textiles and Railways Darshana Jardosh were present on the occasion. Apart from this, prominent industrialists of Surat were present.


Addressing the diamond industrialists present, State Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi said that an SIT was formed for members of the textile trade in Ahmedabad, out of 350 traders who were duped, 57 rupees were recovered by the SIT. Now an SIT will also be formed to prevent cheating with the diamond industry. A team of 15-15 police will be formed. A plan will be prepared after the meeting of the Police Commissioner and Diamond Association.
He further said that soon the diamond burs will be fully built and ready. Surat’s Diamond Burse is not only known for the diamond industry but will be the world’s largest office building. A hi-tech police station will be started before the opening of the first office of Diamond Burse.


Union Minister Purushottam Rupala, who was present, said that Surat has an international standard airport and now international flights will be increased at the earliest. Even in Surat, when it came to making diamond burs, efforts were made to stop it. The merchants of Surat built burs without stopping.
