  • After the dispute between the Smart City and the municipality, ‘ghee fell in the ghee’

The work could not be done here as various 38 areas of the city were not tendered in the underground sewerage scheme under the Smart City to free open sewers in Dahod city. The scheme was also launched by the Prime Minister. There was a controversy about doing this work to the municipality. However, as the dispute finally settled, the remaining 20.325 km of underground sewerage will be done by the municipality itself from the 15th Finance Commission grant.

Underground sewerage scheme was laid at a cost of Rs 34.63 lakh
For this, a resolution has also been passed by the municipality in the general meeting. In Dahod, which is included in the Smart City, an underground sewerage scheme was laid at a cost of Rs 34.63 lakh under the Smart City. However, due to gross negligence at the time of survey, 38 areas including the central areas of the city were left out. So these areas could not be included in the tendering of the scheme.

Launch of the scheme by the Prime Minister on April 20
The scheme was also launched by the Prime Minister on April 20 as the agency had completed its work by excluding these areas. However, after that a controversy also arose when the Municipal Corporation was asked to do the underground sewerage scheme. Finally, with the compromise, now the remaining 18 km of underground sewerage in all 9 wards of Dahod city will be done by the municipal corporation from the amount of Tide grant under the 15th Finance Commission. For this, a resolution was also passed by the city council in the general meeting on Friday.

Another 9 thousand house connections will be provided
In Dahod city, in the areas where the underground sewerage scheme has been completed, house connections of underground sewerage have been provided in some areas. However, there are 19 thousand properties in the city out of which 10 properties have been given connections so far. Connection is yet to be given in 9 thousand properties. After the completion of the underground sewerage works, connection work will be carried out in these properties as well.

What is TIDE Grant…
A grant given by the government to a municipality for water lines and solid waste disposal is called a TIDE grant. Under the 15th Finance Commission, the municipality has received 4 crore 7 lakh rupees as grant in installments on 22 November 2021, 23 February 2022 and 30 March 2022. From this grant, house connection work will also be done along with underground sewer pipe line work.
