- Vacant seats have to be recorded by the TTE in the hand held terminal
Hand Held Terminal (HHT) has now been provided to TTE for ticket checking in trains. With the help of this terminal paperless operation will be done and after the departure of the train the vacant seats will automatically be allotted in the name of the passenger coming in the RAC or waiting order. Due to this, allegations of cash being made by TTE by selling vacant seats in trains will stop.
HHT has been allotted to TTE in some trains including Rajdhani Express, Shatabdi Express under pilot project in Ahmedabad division. Ahmedabad – Bhavnagar Special Somnath Express, Ahmedabad – Somnath Intercity Express, Ahmedabad – Somnath Intercity Express are also being checked with the help of HHT.
A reservation chart with passenger name will be available in the HHT machine. This machine is connected to the central server of passenger reservation system through GPRS. So wherever the train stops at the station, the ticket booking details are updated. With the help of this system, TTE will be able to do seat confirmation, cancellation, penalty, additional fare etc.
