Tweak Shinde and Thackeray! The Assembly Secretary sent notices to 53 Shiv Sena MLAs, excluding Aditya Thackeray

Even though Eknath Shinde and the BJP government have been formed in Maharashtra after the resignation of Uddhav Thackeray, the political drama has not calmed down. In an unprecedented move, Maharashtra Assembly Chief Secretary Rajendra Bhagwat has issued show cause notices to 53 of the 55 Shiv Sena MLAs.
According to sources, the notice was issued under the Disqualification Act for breach of whip during a majority test in the Legislature, asking MLAs to respond within 7 days. The proceedings are being held at a time when the Maharashtra issue is scheduled to be heard in the Supreme Court on Monday.
The notice has been sent by Rajendra Bhagwat, chief secretary of the assembly, which includes 39 MLAs from the Shinde camp and 14 from the Uddhav group. No notice has been issued to Uddhav’s son Aditya Thackeray. The Shinde group had sought disqualification action against the rest of the MLAs for violating the whip, but Aditya Thackeray’s name was not on the list.
The notice also said that if no reply is given within 7 days, it will be assumed that the MLA has nothing to reply.
