World's oldest tiger dies - Bombay News

The world’s oldest tiger has died. Named Raja, the tiger was kept in the Tiger Reserve at Alipurduar in West Bengal. The tigers were 26 years, 10 months and 18 days old. It is said that the king’s 27th birthday was to be celebrated on 23rd August. It was also prepared by the Forest Department.

According to the Forest Department, the tiger, named Raja, was captured from the Sundarbans in 2006 in a wounded condition. It has since been kept in the Tiger Reserve. He was attacked by a crocodile while crossing the Matla river in the Sundarbans and was seriously injured.
