    Congress leader and Kannur corporation councillor PV Krishnakumar was arrested for allegedly raping an employee of a women’s co-operative bank, said police. The woman had filed a Police complaint on July 20 to the city police commissioner and to the women’s commission.

The girls, aged 9 and 13, were found dead inside their one-room house in Walayar 52 days apart — the elder sister was found dead on January 13, 2017; and the younger one on March 4 that year.

Telangana, AP on alert as swelling Godavari poses flood threat

In Andhra, the Godavari continued to flow at danger levels due to heavy inflows from upstream. The authorities at Dowleshwaram barrage near Rajahmundry lifted the gates and are releasing 10 million cusecs of water to the downstream and alerted the villages in the low-lying areas of Konaseema.



At the temple town of Bhadrachalam, the water level in the Godavari crossed the second warning level of 48 feet and reached 49.30 feet on Wednesday morning and went up to 50.60 feet by 5 pm, according to officials. (PTI)

ED raids Kerala co-op bank in 300-crore misappropriation case

KCR announces 1mn new old-age pensions

In fact, the scheme of reducing the age limit for old-age pensioners was one of the promises made by the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi before December 2018 assembly elections. However, the scheme was put on the back burner due to financial constraints on account of Covid-19 pandemic
