- Every year in July the demand decreases, but this time it increased
The power demand of the state comes down to 17,500 to 18,000 MW during the monsoon months of July-August. However, this time the demand of the state has increased to 19,923 MW in the month of July as well. That is, this time the power demand has increased by an average of 2000 MW in monsoon. Rain has stopped in the state for the last three to four days. Hence the demand has increased as the agricultural sector and industrial consumption of the state has increased after Corona.
In 2020, the state’s power demand came down to 8000 MW during the Corona-induced lockdown period, while it reached 27,000 MW in April-May 2022. Meanwhile, the state’s average power demand in monsoons ranges from 17,500 to 18,000 MW. This time, despite the satisfactory rainfall, the demand for electricity has not decreased. On the contrary, it has increased by 2000 MW compared to the July average. On July 30 afternoon, the state’s demand stood at 19,923, while Mahavitra’s demand was up to 16,770 MW. It is estimated that this demand will continue to increase until consumption in the agricultural sector is reduced despite heavy rains.
Coal shortage persists: State power company Mahanirmiti’s thermal power plant faced a coal shortage in the summer. It is still ongoing. Bhusawal Aushni Center does not have more than three days of coal supply, while other centers have 8 to 10 days.
