India reports 19,406 Covid infections in last 24 hours, sees decline in active cases | India News

NEW DELHI: India saw a decline in the number of active Covid-19 cases, even as the country reported 19,406 new infections in the last 24 hours, according to the Union health ministry data updated on Saturday.
With 19,928 recoveries in the last 24 hours, the number of active Covid-19 cases declined to 1,34,793 from previous day’s 1,35,364, said the Union health ministry.

Besides, India reported 49 fatalities in the last 24 hours, pushing the total death tally to 5,26,649, added the Union health ministry. Meanwhile, the total case tally of India has risen to 4,41,26,994 with 0.31% active cases. The daily positivity rate at present is 4.96%, while fatality rate is 1.19%.

As many as 3,91,187 tests were conducted during the previous day.
Also 32,73,551 people were vaccinated in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of vaccination to 2,05,92,20,794.
Meanwhile, Karnataka chief minister Basavaraj Bommai on Saturday said he has tested positive with mild symptoms and that his trip to New Delhi stands cancelled. He said he has isolated himself at home.
“I have tested positive for Covid-19 with mild symptoms and have isolated myself at home. Those who came in touch with me in the last few days, kindly isolate yourself and get yourself tested. My trip to Delhi stands cancelled,” Bommai tweeted.
