PRAYAGRAJ: In good news for individuals (Indian or foreign nationals) who had received Covid-19 vaccine dose(s) outside India and were willing to receive remaining doses (second or booster) in India, they may be administered any of the domestically available vaccines in the country as per the recommendations of the National Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (NTAGI).
TOI on August 18 had carried a report highlighting the plight of individuals who had been jabbed abroad but were finding it difficult to receive the booster doses in India as the country’s Co-Win portal was not linked with any foreign-based vaccine portal. As a result, the health employees were not able to link it with the vaccinator module. But now, additional secretary, ministry of health & family welfare Manohar Agnani, has sent a letter to chief secretary/principal secretary and secretary of all states and UTs directing to take all necessary measures for smooth implementation of the plan. For this, necessary changes are being made to the Co-Win portal.
Confirming the development, Utsav Singh, nodal officer (vaccination) at MLN Medical College, told TOI: “The health ministry had received several requests for Covid vaccination of individuals (Indian or foreign national) who had received vaccine dose(s) outside India and were willing to receive remaining second or booster dose in India.”
“Once the necessary changes are made, such individuals may be provided with the second dose or precaution dose of vaccines in the country,” Singh added.
