Giriraj Singh said Nitish Kumar can’t even become a chief minister on his own but harbours dream to become the prime minister.
Nitish Kumar’s decision to end his alliance with the BJP-led NDA in Bihar on Tuesday triggered speculations over Nitish Kumar becoming the opposition’s PM face in 2024. Slamming Nitish Kumar’s ‘love for CM post’ hard, BJP leaders dismissed Nitish Kumar as someone who can’t even become the CM ‘on his own’. BJP’s Giriraj Singh said Nitish Kumar’s entire political career has been like this – siwtching sides. “He can’t do anything new. So he switches partners to avoid accountability and anti-incumbency,” Giriraj Singh tweeted. Mocking a poster which has ‘Nitish sabkke hain’ written on it, Singh wrote, “Nitish sirf kursi ke hai (Nitish is only for the chair)”.

BJP leader CT Ravi termed Nitish’s switch as ‘good riddance’ and tweeted, “If anybody thinks that the post of Prime Minister will be vacant in 2024 for Sickulars, then they are living in ‘Pappu’s Paradise’. Every Indian is aware that the Prime Minister of India will be from the BJP for many decades to come.”
Countering Nitish Kumar’s allegation that the BJP was trying to destroy JD(U), BJP leader RS Prasad said BJP made him Union minister several times and also made him the chief minister. Sushil Modi said Nitish Kumar won’t get the respect with the RJD that he got in the BJP. We made him CM despite having more seats and never tried to break his party. We broke only those who betrayed us. In Maharashtra, Shiv Sena betrayed us and faced consequences,” Sushil Modi told ANI.
The Nitish for PM in 2024 speculation got rife on Tuesday after he upset the applecart in Bihar. Nitish’s aide Upendra Kushwaha dropped a ‘nattional politics’ hint as he congratulated Nitish Kumar for the new coalition. “Nitish ji goa haead. The country is waiting for you,” Kushwaha tweeted.
Suspended Congress leader Sanjay Jha said Nitish Kumar will be more of an acceptable face than Mamata Banerjee as the face for the joint opposition in 2024. “To defeat BJP you have to either change the rules of engagement or beat them at their own game,” Jha tweeted.
