In a major crackdown against the smuggling of the narcotics into Rajasthan, the crime branch of the Rajasthan police on Friday seized 1,205 kg of ganja worth nearly Rs 3 crore in the market and have arrested three persons for the narcotics smuggling near Kapasan police station area of Chittorgarh.

JAIPUR: In a major crackdown against the smuggling of the narcotics into Rajasthan, the crime branch of the Rajasthan police on Friday seized 1,205 kg of ganja worth nearly Rs 3 crore in the market and have arrested three persons for the narcotics smuggling near Kapasan police station area of Chittorgarh.
They said haul of the narcotics was brought from Visakhapatnam in a truck container and was concealed under the waste plastic bottle.
Ravi Prakash Meharda, additional director general(Crime) stated that the crime branch has been keeping a close watch on the activities of the narcotics smugglers in the state and was developing information.
“Based on a specific input a team was sent to the area from where the suspected truck containing narcotics was entering Rajasthan. With the help of the local police in Chittorgarh our team checked the truck and found 1205 kg of Ganja worth nearly Rs 3 crore in the market,” said Meharda while talking to TOI.
In-charge of the special team Puspendra Singh, deputy superintendent of police, crime branch, said, “It was found that this haul was to be used Rajasthan and Haryana and the smugglers of Rajasthan were behind the deal. In our previous investigations it was evident that Naxalite hit areas in Orrisa and Andhra Pradesh are illegally sowing narcotics. The smugglers in Rajasthan send drivers with loaded trucks and in return the narcotics are transported in these vehicles,” Singh added.
The arrested accused were identified as Raju Puri, Jitendra Purohit and Prahlad Rai Saini.
