India’s star batsman Virat Kohli has made a huge jump in the ICC T20 batsman rankings thanks to his century in the recently concluded Asia Cup. It has climbed 14 places to 15th place. Virat Kohli scored his first international century against Afghanistan after almost three years. He scored 276 runs in the entire Asia Cup.
Huge jump in Kohli’s ranking after the century
Kohli has a good chance to break into the top ranks of T20 batsmen as he is heading in the right direction after his return to form during the Asia Cup. Indian batsman KL Rahul (a jump of seven places to 23rd) and Sri Lankan star batsman Bhanuka Rajapaksa (a jump of 34 places to 34th) have made good gains in the T20 batsmen rankings.
Hasranga is ranked sixth in the bowling rankings
Sri Lankan all-rounder Wanindu Hasranga has also benefited from his impressive performances in the Asia Cup. After being named ‘Player of the Tournament’ at the Asia Cup, Sri Lanka’s match-winner Hasaranga has jumped three places to sixth in the bowlers’ rankings and seven places to fourth in the all-rounders’ list.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar among the top 10 bowlers
India pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar (a jump of four places to seventh) and Pakistan duo Haris Rauf (a jump of nine places to 25th) and Mohammad Nawaz (a jump of seven places to 34th) have made it to the T20 bowlers’ list. There is no change in the top 10 in the new Test Player Rankings, but England and South Africa have made big leaps since the conclusion of the three-match series recently.
