India has established itself as a leader in the global IT ecosystem. Then, Gujarat too has entered the competition with the world. As part of this, ‘IBM India Software Labs’ was inaugurated today by Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel at Gift City (Gujarat International Finance Tech City) near Gandhinagar.
Science and Technology Department Minister Jitubhai Vaghani said on the occasion that Gujarat has entered the competition with the world while India has established itself as a leader in the global IT ecosystem. Under the enterprising leadership of the country’s Prime Minister Narendrabhai Modi, the Indian IT sector has positioned our nation at a leadership position in the global IT landscape in terms of employment and economic value creation. Gujarat IT/ITeS Policy (2022-27) was launched in February-2022 under the able leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel and since then there has been huge investment in IT sector in Gujarat in a very short period of time. Over 15 MOUs have been signed in Gujarat in the last six months.
Minister Vaghani added that top IT company IBM has started an advanced research and innovation facility software lab in Gift City. The lab will accelerate high quality skill building and help create jobs for skilled young IT professionals in Gujarat. Under the Gujarat IT/ITeS Policy, the state government aims to prepare a skilled IT manpower with awareness in innovative technologies like AI, CLOUD, IoT, Blockchain and create an enabling environment for them for value-based innovation.
The Minister further said that the new IBM India Software Lab will catalyze the state’s digital ambitions, besides creating innovative job opportunities for the youth and accelerating the state’s digital transformation by strengthening the digital skills of its tech-savvy professionals. The state has many young talents who are highly skilled in digital technology and are working to provide the best services to citizens and businesses.
Secretary of Science and Technology Department Vijay Nehra, Managing Director of Gift City Tapan Ray, Senior Vice President of IBM Company Tom Rosamelia, CHRO Nickel Lemora, Senior Vice President of IBM Software Gaurav Sharma and other officials/employees of IBM were present in this program.
