Mumbai Indians team ‘MI Cape Town’ has announced the names of the coaching staff in South Africa’s domestic T20 league. Former Australian cricketer Simon Ketich has been appointed as the head coach, while former South African legend Hashim Amla has been appointed as the batting coach. Apart from this, it has been decided to appoint James Payment as the fielding coach. While Robin Pietersen has been appointed as the manager of the team (MI Cape Town).

MI Cape Town fielded 5 veteran players in their squad for its first edition. These players are Kagiso Rabada, Dewald Brevis, Rashid Khan, Sam Curran and Liam Livingstone.
Jayawardene’s increased responsibilities
Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians on Wednesday handed over new roles to former player Mahela Jayawardene, making him head of global performance and head of global cricket development respectively. These appointments are part of Mumbai Indians’ central expansion plan. According to a Mumbai Indians statement, Jayawardene will lead the group’s global cricket operations, responsible for overall strategic planning, building an integrated global high-performance ecosystem, as well as coaching and support structures for each team.
