Former veteran fast bowler Zaheer Khan and former Sri Lankan captain Mahela Jayawardene have been part of the Mumbai Indians team for a long time. Former Sri Lankan batsman Jayawardene has been named the franchise’s Global Head (Performance) while Zaheer Khan will now take over as Global Head Cricket (Development).

Jayawardene was serving as the head coach of Mumbai Indians since 2017. Meanwhile, the Mumbai franchise also won three IPL titles under his guidance. Now the team is looking for a head coach after Jayawardene has been given the new charge. Speculations have also started regarding this.

Zaheer is one of the best bowlers in the country

43-year-old Zaheer Khan is counted among India’s best fast bowlers. He played 92 Tests, 200 ODIs and 17 T20 Internationals in his career. Zaheer took 311 wickets in Tests, 282 in ODIs and 17 wickets in T20 international format. Apart from this, he also scored three fifties in the Test format. While 45-year-old Jayawardene scored 11,814 runs in Tests, 12,650 runs in ODIs and 1,493 runs in T20 Internationals during his career.
