Indian women’s cricket team beat England by eight wickets in the second T20 International to level the three-match series 1-1 with the help of an aggressive half-century from player of the match opening batswoman Smriti Mandhana and three wickets from off-spinner Sneh Rana. England’s decision to bat first after winning the toss proved wrong and the score was 54 for five in 10 overs. However, with the help of Freya Kemp’s unbeaten 51 off 37 balls and Mia Bouchier’s 34 runs, England scored 142 runs for six wickets.
Mandhana’s explosive batting
With the help of Mandhana’s unbeaten 79 in 53 balls, skipper Harmanpreet Kaur’s unbeaten 29 and Shefali Verma’s 20 runs, the Indian women’s team achieved victory by scoring 146 runs for two wickets with 3.2 overs to spare on a pitch that seemed easy to bat on. For India, Renuka Singh took one wicket for 30 runs and Deepti Sharma took two wickets for 21 runs. Sneh Rana took the highest three wickets for 24 runs.
Aggressive start for India
Runchasers Mandhana and Shefali got off to an aggressive start for India by scoring 55 runs in six overs of the powerplay. Hamlata (9) failed once again. Mandhana and Harmanpreet put on an unbeaten 69-run stand for the third wicket to take the team to victory.
