Standing Committee Chairman Hitesh Barot said that since this college was built during the period when Prime Minister Modi was the MLA of Maninagar, it has been decided to associate the medical college with the name of PM Modi.

Earlier, Motera Cricket Stadium was renamed as Narendra Modi Stadium and now Narendra Modi Medical College. This medical college has increased 59 seats for medical studies and the number of seats in Kill College has increased to 170.
