The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has suspended Nepal captain Sandeep Lamichha after issuing an arrest warrant against him for raping a minor girl. Sandeep Lamichhane, the suspended captain of the Nepal cricket team accused of rape, issued a public statement on Friday claiming that he is innocent. He tweeted that he will take a break from the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) and return to Nepal in a few days.
Nepal Cricket Association suspended
The Nepal Cricket Association on Thursday (September 8) suspended star cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane after he was accused of raping a minor girl. A court in Nepal has issued an arrest warrant against the suspended captain of the Nepal national cricket team. According to the police, a 17-year-old girl has accused him of rape.

Sandeep Lamichhane tweeted on the rape complaint against him, “I am innocent and have full faith in the honorable law of Nepal. I have decided to take leave from CPL and go back to my country in few days. I am ready to face all these baseless allegations. Justice to the innocent. Should and proper investigation should be done against all those involved.Hopefully the law will work equally for all.
Captain of Nepal cricket team
Lamichhane is currently playing in the Caribbean Premier League. He is the first player from Nepal to play in IPL. He made headlines in 2018 by debuting for the Delhi Capitals franchise. Lamichhane has recently been appointed as the captain of the Nepal cricket team.

The 22-year-old Lamichhan played in the IPL in the 2018 and 2019 seasons. He has taken 13 wickets in 9 IPL matches. Lamichhane has taken 85 wickets in 44 matches for Nepal in T20I cricket.
