  • The rocks above the Idaria Garh became dangerous due to soil erosion
  • People demand that municipality, MLA wake up to save the existence of Eider Garh
  • Living at the foot of Idaria Garh, many people lost their lives

The folk song “Iderio Garh Ame Jitya Re…” referred to in the folk song “Iderio Garh Aame Jitya Re…” is the Iderio Garh and its ancient historical heritage being destroyed due to man-made disasters like mining activities as well as natural disasters like soil washing over the Ider Garh due to rainwater. The forest cover on the fort is now decreasing, due to which the rocks of the fort are tumbling downwards when the soil washes away when it rains. Because of this, the existence of Idria Garh, which is a heritage of history, is in danger. If immediate steps are not taken by the Municipality and MLA of Eder to save Idaria Garh, which has become a tourist destination, Eder Garh will gradually disappear every monsoon season and future generations will have to look in the books to see Idaria Garh.

For the last few years, as the Mathi Dasha of Idaria Garh is sitting, mining activities are being carried out by blasting for granite slabs by the companies located on the north side of the Garh on Limboi Road. On the other hand, every year in the monsoon, the soil beneath the rocks of Idaria Garh is washed away by rainwater and these rocks fall downwards. Today, some rocks fell near the steps to climb the Idaria Garh towards the city of Idar, due to which many people living below the fort became scared. After indiscriminate felling of the soil around the stones of Idaria Garh, which is naturally formed of clay and stones, the soil under the stones is being eroded by the rains, leaving no concrete. Due to which rocks including stones are moving dangerously apart from each other and the process of landslides continues continuously during rains, even the big rocks of the fort can slide down at any time.

Due to the loss of forests above the fort, the soil is being eroded

The team including Jashubhai Rawal, manager of Vrajeshwari Mata Mandir on Eder Garh, Hiren Panchal of Mission Green Eder, Yogesh Sathwara, said that due to the blasting and cutting by the companies in the north of the fort, stones and rocks are also sliding due to vibration. The fort is being cut from one side while on the other side the stones are automatically sliding away as the soil beneath is washed away by the rain. The main cause of soil erosion on the fort is the destruction of forests. Only the people living near the fort are cutting down the forests here. The ‘Green hills, green districts’ campaign by the state forest department is run only on paper. If the forest department does not make the fort green again, then the existence of the fort may be threatened in the near future.

Even the lives of devotees can be endangered by going up to the fort

Nikesh Sankhesara and Alpesh Sagar, who visit Idria Garh daily for worship, said that Idria Garh is a symbol of folk culture, along with Panchmukhi Mahadev, Uttaramukhi Hanumanji, Vrajeshwari Mata temple, as well as Digambar and Shwetambar Jain Derasar located on the fort. is Because of this, there is a rush of devotees on Idaria Garh, if the stones fall down in this way, then the lives of devotees can be put in danger while moving on the fort.
