In Uttar Pradesh, news has surfaced that 8 people drowned in different districts during Ganapati Visharan. 4 children have drowned in Sant Kabir Nagar. These four were siblings. All the dead bodies have been recovered. While in Lalitpur and Unnao, two people each died due to drowning during discharge.
Four brothers and sisters drowned in Ami river
A major incident took place at around 4 pm on Friday at Magahar Chowki area of Sant Kabir Nagar’s Khalilabad city. Virendra Magahar lives in Bansgaon here. His wife Sanju Mohammadpur came to attend the funeral at her sister’s house in Qatar. Ami river is 2 km south of his house. Sanju, his 10-year-old son Ajit, Sanju’s sister’s three daughters Ruby, Deepali, went to the Papua Ami river for Ganpati immersion, along with other villagers.
Children held each other’s hands and entered the river
Sanju went to the river to bathe Ganapati. After that, Ajith and the three girls also went down into the river holding each other’s hands. Suddenly, a child’s leg went into deep water. Four children one after another drowned in the river in an attempt to save this child. Seeing this, Sanju shouted, but by then all four had gone into deep water. As soon as the accident was reported, the police and sub divisional officer reached the spot along with a local diver. Divers began searching the river. After about an hour, they recovered the bodies of the four children. The police have sent the bodies of all four for postmortem.
Another accident occurred in Lalitpur, a young man drowned while trying to save his friend
In Lalitpur too, two friends drowned in the lake during the immersion of Ganesh idol. The accident took place in Patora Kala village on Friday afternoon. Ganesh idol was being immersed in the village pond. Piyush of the village had gone for a dip in the lake with his neighbor friend Israr (18) alias Chhotu. Piyush started drowning in the lake, so Israr also jumped in to save him, after which both of them drowned.
The third accident took place on the banks of the Ganges in Unarao, three youths drowned, two died
The third accident took place during Ganesh Vishran on the banks of the Ganges in Unarao. Three youths drowned here. The bodies of two youths were recovered. While a youth has been sent to Hailat Hospital in Kanpur in critical condition, where his condition is critical. The accident took place in Makhi Police Station area of Safipur. Here, sitting in a trolley, more than 50 people reached the bank of Ganga to immerse the idol. During the immersion of the idol, Lovelash, Prashant and Vishal drowned in the deep waters of the Ganges. Divers present on the ghat jumped into the Ganges and after about half an hour pulled out the three youths, out of whom Lovelash and Prashant died due to drowning. Vishal was unconscious. Police have shifted Vishal to Hailat Hospital in Kanpur for treatment.
3 youth drowned in Aligarh, two rescued, search for one continues
3 youths who went to idol worship in Aligarh drowned in Ganga. The accident took place while taking a bath after discharge. Divers have rescued 2 youths, while search for one youth is on. On Friday, the people of Mohalla Tedanim in Atrauli reached the Narora Ganga Ghat to immerse the Ganesha idol. About 70 people were present on the ghat. After the dissolution everyone started bathing in the Ganga. Meanwhile, Umesh (35), Shyamu (25) and Sanjay alias Golu (18) got stuck in deep water. After the explosion, divers rescue Shyamu and Sanjay while the search for Umesh continues.
