Duleep Trophy semi-final match between West and Central zone is being played. In the match, West Zone scored 257 runs in the first innings. In response, the Central Zone team was all out by scoring 128 runs in the first innings. Central Zone lost five wickets for 66 runs. Venkatesh Iyer, batting at number six, was expected to have a big innings but he fell victim to the disaster with a score of six runs. An ambulance had to be called to the field in the ongoing match and Venkatesh had to retire hurt. However, he came back into bat but got out after adding eight more runs.

Chintan Gaja threw straight to Venkatesh

Pace bowler Chintan Gaja was bowling from West Zone. Iyer played a straight shot and the ball went to Chintan. He threw straight to Venkatesh for a run out. Before Iyer could remove himself from the line of the ball, the ball hit him in the neck. He fell on the pitch. The match officials called an ambulance to the ground. Iyer walked into the ambulance instead of getting on the stretcher. After receiving preliminary medical treatment, he again entered the field.
