Delhi AAP Minister Resigns After Row Over Presence At Conversion Event

Delhi Social Welfare Minister Rajendra Pal Gautam has resigned

New Delhi:

Delhi Social Welfare Minister Rajendra Pal Gautam has resigned, following vigorous protests by BJP over his presence at a religious conversion event in Delhi on Friday.

Earlier, a video went viral, showing the Aam Aadmi Pary (AAP) minister attending a religious conversion event where Hindu deities were allegedly denounced. At the event, hundreds took a pledge to convert to Buddhism and not consider Hindu deities as Gods.

Following the incident, the BJP had launched an attack on Delhi Chief Minister and AAP Convenor Arvind Kejriwal, asking him to sack Mr Gautam.

AAP workers removed anti-AAP posters ahead of Mr Kejriwal’s rally in Gujarat’s Vadodara yesterday. The workers brought down all anti-AAP posters and banners put up on the party chief’s route to the rally venue. Protesting alleged “anti-Hindu” statements by Mr Gautam, supporters of the ruling BJP in Gujarat’s Vadodara tore AAP banners ahead of the yesterday’s ‘Tiranga Rally’.
