Here's what to expect from Tata Motors at the 2023 Auto Expo: Altroz EV, Harrier facelift and more

The 15th edition of the biennial Auto Expo was held in February 2020, while the 16th edition of the show was postponed to January 2023 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The automotive/motor show is the biggest stage in India for all leading manufacturers in the country to display their upcoming products as well as future concepts and technologies, and in the meantime, also gauge public response.
Being one of the largest carmakers in India, Tata Motors is expected to dazzle at the 2023 Auto Expo with a range of upcoming cars and SUVs. Here is a list of some of the products that we believe Tata Motors will showcase at the Auto Expo next year –

Tata Tiago EV walkaround: Price, range and features | TOI Auto

Altroz EV
Tata Motors currently has 3 fully-electric cars in its line-up, including the recently launched Tiago EV, the Tigor EV as well as the Nexon EV. However, a fourth one is set to join the lot soon. First showcased at the previous edition of the Auto Expo, the Tata Altroz EV is expected to be launched at next year’s auto show.

Altroz EV

The Altroz EV will be based on the same ALFA platform as the Nexon EV, however, will likely be equipped with a slightly smaller battery pack. A range of around 350 – 400 km will see the Altroz EV slotted between the Tigor EV and the Nexon EV in the carmaker’s portfolio. Price-wise too, it is expected to sit between these two Tata electric cars.
Harrier facelift
While the Tata Harrier already received a mid-life facelift at the 2020 Auto Expo, the changes were fairly minimal apart from the new and more powerful Kryotec engine of course. However, Tata is now working on introducing yet another update for the Harrier – prototypes of which have already been spied on test in recent times.

The 2023 Harrier is expected to retain its overall styling, however, it will likely feature some visual enhancements like new alloy wheels, a redesigned grille, updated headlamps and tail lamps etc. We expect a host of new equipment to be on offer though, like a larger infotainment screen, a fully digital instrument cluster, a 360-degree camera, and even ADAS features like lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking etc.
Curvv concept
The Tata Curvv concept was revealed in the country in April this year, based on an entirely new EV platform. The coupe-styled concept is also based on Tata’s new design philosophy called ‘Less is More’ – which could be the host for all future Tata EVs to come. We expect Tata to showcase the Curvv concept at the 2023 Auto Expo in a slightly more production-ready form.

Tata had also revealed that the Curvv concept will result in a fully-electric vehicle first, followed by an ICE version later. The EV could have a range of around 400 – 500 km, however, the same is yet to be confirmed. What’s more, the Tata Curvv is actually capable of charging other electric vehicles!
Avinya concept
The Avinya concept was also showcased by Tata Motors in April, based on its GEN 3 architecture – the production-ready version of which will debut in 2025. Tata claims that the Avinya concept will offer a minimum 500 km range, which will be available in just 30 minutes of charging.

Tata says that the Avinya concept “combines the essence of a premium hatch to the luxuries and versatility of an SUV and the roominess and functionality of an MPV”. The EV concept features a futuristic design, with a wide LED DRL setup up front in the shape of ‘T’. At the rear, there is a sleek LED strip running the width of the car, also serving as the tail light(s).
